بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

وَٱلصَّـٰٓفَّـٰتِ صَفًّا ayah 1
By the aligners aligning.
فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْرًا ayah 2
And the drivers driving.
فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا ayah 3
And the reciters of the Reminder.
إِنَّ إِلَـٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٌ ayah 4
Your God is indeed One.
رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ ayah 5
Lord of the heavens and the earth, and everything between them; and Lord of the Easts.
إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ ayah 6
We have adorned the lower heaven with the beauty of the planets.
وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَـٰنٍ مَّارِدٍ ayah 7
And guarded it against every defiant devil.
لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍ ayah 8
They cannot eavesdrop on the Supernal Elite, for they get bombarded from every side.
دُحُورًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ ayah 9
Repelled—they will have a lingering torment.
إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ ayah 10
Except for him who snatches a fragment—he gets pursued by a piercing projectile.
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍۭ ayah 11
Inquire of them, “Are they more difficult to create, or the others We created?” We created them from sticky clay.
بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ ayah 12
But you wonder, and they ridicule.
وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ ayah 13
And when reminded, they pay no attention.
وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ ayah 14
And when they see a sign, they ridicule.
وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ ayah 15
And they say, “This is nothing but plain magic.
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ ayah 16
When we have died and become dust and bones, shall we be resurrected?
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ ayah 17
And our ancestors of old?”
قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ ayah 18
Say, “Yes indeed, and you will be totally subdued.”
فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ ayah 19
It will be a single nudge, and they will be staring.
وَقَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ ayah 20
They will say, “Woe to us. This is the Day of Judgment.”
هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ayah 21
“This is the Day of Separation which you used to deny.
۞ ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ ayah 22
Gather those who did wrong, and their mates, and what they used to worship.
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ayah 23
Besides Allah, and lead them to the way to Hell.
وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ ayah 24
And stop them. They are to be questioned.”

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ ayah 25
What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another?
بَلْ هُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ ayah 26
In fact, on that Day, they will be submissive.
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ ayah 27
They will come to one another, questioning one another.
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ ayah 28
They will say, “You used to come at us from the right.”
قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ ayah 29
They will say, “You yourselves were not believers.
وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَـٰنٍۭ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا طَـٰغِينَ ayah 30
We had no authority over you. You yourselves were rebellious people.
فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ ayah 31
The Word of our Lord has been realized against us. We are tasting it.
فَأَغْوَيْنَـٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَـٰوِينَ ayah 32
We seduced you. We were seducers.”
فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ ayah 33
On that Day, they will share in the punishment.
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ayah 34
Thus We deal with the sinners.
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ ayah 35
When it was said to them, “There is no god except Allah,” they grew arrogant.
وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُونٍۭ ayah 36
And said, “Are we to abandon our gods for a mad poet?”
بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ayah 37
In fact, he came with the truth, and he confirmed the messengers.
إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ ayah 38
Most assuredly, you will taste the painful punishment.
وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ayah 39
And you will be repaid only for what you used to do.
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ ayah 40
Except for Allah’s sincere servants.
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُومٌ ayah 41
For them is a known provision.
فَوَٰكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ ayah 42
Fruits; and they will be honored.
فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ayah 43
In the Gardens of Bliss.
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ ayah 44
On furnishings, facing one another.
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ ayah 45
They will be offered a cup of pure drink.
بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ ayah 46
White; a delight to those who drink.
لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ ayah 47
Never polluted, and never intoxicating.
وَعِندَهُمْ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌ ayah 48
With them will be bashful women with lovely eyes.
كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ ayah 49
As if they were closely guarded pearls.
فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ ayah 50
Then they will approach one another, questioning.
قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌ ayah 51
One of them will say, “I used to have a friend.

يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ ayah 52
Who used to say, “Are you of those who believe?
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ ayah 53
That after we die and become dust and bones, we will be called to account?”
قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ ayah 54
He will say, “Will you have a look?”
فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ayah 55
He will look, and will see him in the pit of Hell.
قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ ayah 56
He will say, “By Allah, you almost ruined me.
وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ ayah 57
Were it not for the grace of my Lord, I would have been among the arraigned.”
أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ ayah 58
“We will not die.
إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ ayah 59
Except for our first death, and we will not be punished.”
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ ayah 60
This is the supreme triumph.
لِمِثْلِ هَـٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ ٱلْعَـٰمِلُونَ ayah 61
For the like of this let the workers work.
أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ ayah 62
Is this a better hospitality, or the Tree of Bitterness?
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَـٰهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ayah 63
We made it an ordeal for the unjust.
إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ayah 64
It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell.
طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ ayah 65
Its fruits are like the devils’ heads.
فَإِنَّهُمْ لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ ayah 66
They will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it.
ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ ayah 67
Then, on top of it, they will have a brew of boiling liquid.
ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ ayah 68
Then their return will be to the Blaze.
إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ ayah 69
They had found their parents astray.
فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ ayah 70
And rushed along in their footsteps.
وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ayah 71
And most of the ancients before them went astray.
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ ayah 72
Even though We sent messengers to warn them.
فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ ayah 73
So observe the end of those who were warned.
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ ayah 74
Except for the sincere servants of Allah.
وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ ayah 75
And Noah called out to Us, and We are the Best of responders.
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ayah 76
And We saved him and his family from the great calamity.
- p. 449
وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ ayah 77
And We made his descendants the survivors.
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ayah 78
And We left mention of him among those who succeeded.
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ayah 79
Peace be upon Noah among all people.
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ayah 80
We thus reward the righteous.
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ayah 81
He was one of Our believing servants.
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ ayah 82
Then We drowned the others.
۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ ayah 83
Of his kind was Abraham.
إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ ayah 84
When he came to his Lord with a sound heart.
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ ayah 85
He said to his father and his people, “What are you worshiping?
أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةً دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ ayah 86
Is it falsified gods, instead of Allah, that you want?
فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ayah 87
So what is your opinion about the Lord of the Worlds?”
فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ ayah 88
Then he took a glance at the stars.
فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌ ayah 89
And said, “I am sick.”
فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ ayah 90
But they turned their backs on him, and went away.
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ ayah 91
Then he turned to their gods, and said, “will you not eat?
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ ayah 92
What is it with you, that you do not speak?”
فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِٱلْيَمِينِ ayah 93
Then he turned on them, striking with his right hand.
فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ ayah 94
And they came running towards him.
قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ ayah 95
He said, “Do you worship what you carve?
وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ ayah 96
When Allah created you, and what you manufacture?”
قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَـٰنًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ ayah 97
They said, “Build a pyre for him, and throw him into the furnace.”
فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ ayah 98
They wished him ill, but We made them the losers.
وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ ayah 99
He said, “I am going towards my Lord, and He will guide me.”
رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ ayah 100
“My Lord, give me one of the righteous.”
فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ حَلِيمٍ ayah 101
So We gave him good news of a clement boy.
فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعْىَ قَالَ يَـٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ ayah 102
Then, when he was old enough to accompany him, he said, “O My son, I see in a dream that I am sacrificing you; see what you think.” He said, “O my Father, do as you are commanded; you will find me, Allah willing, one of the steadfast.”

فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ ayah 103
Then, when they had submitted, and he put his forehead down.
وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُ أَن يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ ayah 104
We called out to him, “O Abraham!
قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ ٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ayah 105
You have fulfilled the vision.” Thus We reward the doers of good.
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْبَلَـٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْمُبِينُ ayah 106
This was certainly an evident test.
وَفَدَيْنَـٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ ayah 107
And We redeemed him with a great sacrifice.
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ayah 108
And We left with him for later generations.
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ayah 109
Peace be upon Abraham.
كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ayah 110
Thus We reward the doers of good.
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ayah 111
He was one of Our believing servants.
وَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِإِسْحَـٰقَ نَبِيًّا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ ayah 112
And We gave him good news of Isaac, a prophet, one of the righteous.
وَبَـٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌ ayah 113
And We blessed him, and Isaac. But among their descendants are some who are righteous, and some who are clearly unjust to themselves.
وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ayah 114
And We blessed Moses and Aaron.
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ayah 115
And We delivered them and their people from the terrible disaster.
وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ ayah 116
And We supported them, and so they were the victors.
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَ ayah 117
And We gave them the Clarifying Scripture.
وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ ayah 118
And We guided them upon the straight path.
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ayah 119
And We left with them for later generations.
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ayah 120
Peace be upon Moses and Aaron.
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ayah 121
Thus We reward the righteous.
إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ayah 122
They were of Our believing servants.
وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ayah 123
Also Elijah was one of the messengers.
إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ayah 124
He said to his people, “Do you not fear?
أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ ayah 125
Do you call on Baal, and forsake the Best of creators?
ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ayah 126
Allah is your Lord, and the Lord of your ancestors.”

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ ayah 127
But they called him a liar, and thus they will be brought forward.
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ ayah 128
Except for Allah’s sincere servants.
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ayah 129
And We left with him for later generations.
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلْ يَاسِينَ ayah 130
Peace be upon the House of Elijah.
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ayah 131
Thus We reward the virtuous.
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ayah 132
He was one of Our believing servants.
وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ayah 133
And Lot was one of the messengers.
إِذْ نَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ ayah 134
We saved him and his family, all of them.
إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ ayah 135
Except for an old woman who lagged behind.
ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ ayah 136
Then We annihilated the others.
وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ ayah 137
You pass by them in the morning.
وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ ayah 138
And at night. Do you not understand?
وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ayah 139
And Jonah was one of the messengers.
إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ ayah 140
When he fled to the laden boat.
فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَ ayah 141
He gambled and lost.
فَٱلْتَقَمَهُ ٱلْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ ayah 142
Then the fish swallowed him, and he was to blame.
فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ ayah 143
Had he not been one of those who praised.
لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ ayah 144
He would have stayed in its belly until the Day they are raised.
۞ فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ ayah 145
Then We threw him into the wilderness, and he was sick.
وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ ayah 146
And We made a gourd tree grow over him.
وَأَرْسَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ ayah 147
Then We sent him to a hundred thousand, or more.
فَـَٔامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ ayah 148
And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment for a while.
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ ayah 149
Ask them, “Are the daughters for your Lord, while for them the sons?”
أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَـٰثًا وَهُمْ شَـٰهِدُونَ ayah 150
Or did We create the angels females, as they witnessed?”
أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ ayah 151
No indeed! It is one of their lies when they say.
وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ ayah 152
“Allah has begotten.” They are indeed lying.
أَصْطَفَى ٱلْبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلْبَنِينَ ayah 153
So He preferred girls over boys?

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ ayah 154
What is the matter with you? How do you judge?
أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ayah 155
Will you not reflect?
أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَـٰنٌ مُّبِينٌ ayah 156
Or do you have some clear proof?
فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَـٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ ayah 157
Then bring your book, if you are telling the truth.
وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ ayah 158
And they invented a relationship between Him and the jinn. But the jinn know that they will be arraigned.
سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ ayah 159
Allah be glorified, far above what they allege.
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ ayah 160
Except for Allah’s sincere servants.
فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ ayah 161
Surely, you and what you serve.
مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَـٰتِنِينَ ayah 162
Cannot seduce away from Him.
إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ayah 163
Except for he who will be roasting in Hell.
وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ ayah 164
“There is not one of us but has an assigned position.
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ ayah 165
And we are the arrangers.
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ ayah 166
And we are the glorifiers.”
وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ ayah 167
Even though they used to say.
لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًا مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ayah 168
“Had we received advice from the ancients.
لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ ayah 169
We would have been Allah's faithful servants.”
فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ ayah 170
But they rejected it, so they will find out.
وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ayah 171
Our Word has already gone out to our servant messengers.
إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ ٱلْمَنصُورُونَ ayah 172
It is they who will be supported.
وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ ayah 173
And Our troops will be the victors.
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ ayah 174
So disregard them for a while.
وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ ayah 175
And watch them—they will soon see.
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ ayah 176
Are they seeking to hasten Our punishment?
فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ ayah 177
When it descends into their yard, miserable will be the morning of those forewarned.
وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ ayah 178
So avoid them for a while.
وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ ayah 179
And watch—they will soon see.
سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ ayah 180
Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, beyond their allegations.
وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ayah 181
And peace be upon the messengers.
وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ayah 182
And praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.
