Surat al-Qiyaama · The Resurrection

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 1

   لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۝١ayah 1

   I swear by the Day of Resurrection.

2. 2

   وَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلنَّفْسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ ۝٢ayah 2

   And I swear by the blaming soul.

3. 3

   أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ ۝٣ayah 3

   Does man think that We will not reassemble his bones?

4. 4

   بَلَىٰ قَـٰدِرِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّسَوِّىَ بَنَانَهُۥ ۝٤ayah 4

   Yes indeed; We are Able to reconstruct his fingertips.

5. 5

   بَلْ يُرِيدُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ ۝٥ayah 5

   But man wants to deny what is ahead of him.

6. 6

   يَسْـَٔلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۝٦ayah 6

   He asks, “When is the Day of Resurrection?”

7. 7

   فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلْبَصَرُ ۝٧ayah 7

   When vision is dazzled.

8. 8

   وَخَسَفَ ٱلْقَمَرُ ۝٨ayah 8

   And the moon is eclipsed.

9. 9

   وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ ۝٩ayah 9

   And the sun and the moon are joined together.

10. 10

    يَقُولُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ ٱلْمَفَرُّ ۝١٠ayah 10

    On that Day, man will say, “Where is the escape?”

11. 11

    كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ ۝١١ayah 11

    No indeed! There is no refuge.

12. 12

    إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمُسْتَقَرُّ ۝١٢ayah 12

    To your Lord on that Day is the settlement.

13. 13

    يُنَبَّؤُا۟ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ ۝١٣ayah 13

    On that Day man will be informed of everything he put forward, and everything he left behind.

14. 14

    بَلِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ بَصِيرَةٌ ۝١٤ayah 14

    And man will be evidence against himself.

15. 15

    وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُۥ ۝١٥ayah 15

    Even as he presents his excuses.

16. 16

    لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِۦٓ ۝١٦ayah 16

    Do not wag your tongue with it, to hurry on with it.

17. 17

    إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُۥ وَقُرْءَانَهُۥ ۝١٧ayah 17

    Upon Us is its collection and its recitation.

18. 18

    فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَـٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعْ قُرْءَانَهُۥ ۝١٨ayah 18

    Then, when We have recited it, follow its recitation.

19. 19

    ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُۥ ۝١٩ayah 19

    Then upon Us is its explanation.

    كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ ۝٢٠ayah 20

    Alas, you love the fleeting life.

21. 21

    وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ ۝٢١ayah 21

    And you disregard the Hereafter.

22. 22

    وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ ۝٢٢ayah 22

    Faces on that Day will be radiant.

23. 23

    إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ ۝٢٣ayah 23

    Looking towards their Lord.

24. 24

    وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بَاسِرَةٌ ۝٢٤ayah 24

    And faces on that Day will be gloomy.

25. 25

    تَظُنُّ أَن يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ ۝٢٥ayah 25

    Realizing that a back-breaker has befallen them.

26. 26

    كَلَّآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِىَ ۝٢٦ayah 26

    Indeed, when it has reached the breast-bones.

27. 27

    وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاقٍ ۝٢٧ayah 27

    And it is said, “Who is the healer?”

28. 28

    وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلْفِرَاقُ ۝٢٨ayah 28

    And He realizes that it is the parting.

29. 29

    وَٱلْتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ ۝٢٩ayah 29

    And leg is entwined with leg.

30. 30

    إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمَسَاقُ ۝٣٠ayah 30

    To your Lord on that Day is the drive.

31. 31

    فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ ۝٣١ayah 31

    He neither believed nor prayed.

32. 32

    وَلَـٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ۝٣٢ayah 32

    But he denied and turned away.

33. 33

    ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ يَتَمَطَّىٰٓ ۝٣٣ayah 33

    Then he went to his family, full of pride.

34. 34

    أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ ۝٣٤ayah 34

    Woe to you; and woe.

35. 35

    ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰٓ ۝٣٥ayah 35

    Then again: Woe to you; and woe.

36. 36

    أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى ۝٣٦ayah 36

    Does man think that he will be left without purpose?

37. 37

    أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِىٍّ يُمْنَىٰ ۝٣٧ayah 37

    Was he not a drop of ejaculated semen?

38. 38

    ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ ۝٣٨ayah 38

    Then he became a clot. And He created and proportioned?

39. 39

    فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ ۝٣٩ayah 39

    And made of him the two sexes, the male and the female?

40. 40

    أَلَيْسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُحْـِۧىَ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ ۝٤٠ayah 40

    Is He not Able to revive the dead?
