Surat Abasa · He frowned

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 1p. 585

   عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ ۝١ayah 1

   He frowned and turned away.

2. 2

   أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ ۝٢ayah 2

   When the blind man approached him.

3. 3

   وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ ۝٣ayah 3

   But how do you know? Perhaps he was seeking to purify himself.

4. 4

   أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ ۝٤ayah 4

   Or be reminded, and the message would benefit him.

5. 5

   أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ ۝٥ayah 5

   But as for him who was indifferent.

6. 6

   فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ ۝٦ayah 6

   You gave him your attention.

7. 7

   وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ ۝٧ayah 7

   Though you are not liable if he does not purify himself.

8. 8

   وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ ۝٨ayah 8

   But as for him who came to you seeking.

9. 9

   وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ ۝٩ayah 9

   In awe.

10. 10

    فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ ۝١٠ayah 10

    To him you were inattentive.

11. 11

    كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ ۝١١ayah 11

    Do not. This is a Lesson.

12. 12

    فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ ۝١٢ayah 12

    Whoever wills, shall remember it.

13. 13

    فِى صُحُفٍ مُّكَرَّمَةٍ ۝١٣ayah 13

    On honorable pages.

14. 14

    مَّرْفُوعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةٍۭ ۝١٤ayah 14

    Exalted and purified.

15. 15

    بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍ ۝١٥ayah 15

    By the hands of scribes.

16. 16

    كِرَامٍۭ بَرَرَةٍ ۝١٦ayah 16

    Noble and devoted.

17. 17

    قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُۥ ۝١٧ayah 17

    Perish man! How thankless he is!

18. 18

    مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ ۝١٨ayah 18

    From what did He create him?

19. 19

    مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ ۝١٩ayah 19

    From a sperm drop He created him, and enabled him.

20. 20

    ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ ۝٢٠ayah 20

    Then He eased the way for him.

21. 21

    ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقْبَرَهُۥ ۝٢١ayah 21

    Then He puts him to death, and buries him.

22. 22

    ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ ۝٢٢ayah 22

    Then, when He wills, He will resurrect him.

23. 23

    كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ ۝٢٣ayah 23

    But no, he did not fulfill what He has commanded him.

24. 24

    فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ ۝٢٤ayah 24

    Let man consider his food.

25. 25

    أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا ٱلْمَآءَ صَبًّا ۝٢٥ayah 25

    We pour down water in abundance.

26. 26

    ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ شَقًّا ۝٢٦ayah 26

    Then crack the soil open.

27. 27

    فَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّا ۝٢٧ayah 27

    And grow in it grains.

28. 28

    وَعِنَبًا وَقَضْبًا ۝٢٨ayah 28

    And grapes and herbs.

29. 29

    وَزَيْتُونًا وَنَخْلًا ۝٢٩ayah 29

    And olives and dates.

30. 30

    وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلْبًا ۝٣٠ayah 30

    And luscious gardens.

31. 31

    وَفَـٰكِهَةً وَأَبًّا ۝٣١ayah 31

    And fruits and vegetables.

32. 32

    مَّتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ ۝٣٢ayah 32

    Enjoyment for you, and for your livestock.

33. 33

    فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ ۝٣٣ayah 33

    But when the Deafening Noise comes to pass.

34. 34

    يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ ۝٣٤ayah 34

    The Day when a person will flee from his brother.

35. 35

    وَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ ۝٣٥ayah 35

    And his mother and his father.

36. 36

    وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ ۝٣٦ayah 36

    And his consort and his children.

37. 37

    لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ ۝٣٧ayah 37

    Every one of them, on that Day, will have enough to preoccupy him.

38. 38

    وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّسْفِرَةٌ ۝٣٨ayah 38

    Faces on that Day will be radiant.

39. 39

    ضَاحِكَةٌ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌ ۝٣٩ayah 39

    Laughing and rejoicing.

40. 40

    وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ ۝٤٠ayah 40

    And Faces on that Day will be covered with misery.

41. 41

    تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ ۝٤١ayah 41

    Overwhelmed by remorse.

42. 42

    أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَفَرَةُ ٱلْفَجَرَةُ ۝٤٢ayah 42

    These are the faithless, the vicious.
