Surat al-Ghaashiya · The Overwhelming

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 1

   هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَـٰشِيَةِ ۝١ayah 1

   Has there come to you the news of the overwhelming?

2. 2

   وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ ۝٢ayah 2

   Faces on that Day will be shamed.

3. 3

   عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ ۝٣ayah 3

   Laboring and exhausted.

4. 4

   تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً ۝٤ayah 4

   Roasting in a scorching Fire.

5. 5

   تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ ۝٥ayah 5

   Given to drink from a flaming spring.

6. 6

   لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ ۝٦ayah 6

   They will have no food except thorns.

7. 7

   لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ ۝٧ayah 7

   That neither nourishes, nor satisfies hunger.

8. 8

   وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ ۝٨ayah 8

   Faces on that Day will be joyful.

9. 9

   لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ ۝٩ayah 9

   Satisfied with their endeavor.

10. 10

    فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ ۝١٠ayah 10

    In a lofty Garden.

11. 11

    لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَـٰغِيَةً ۝١١ayah 11

    In it you will hear no nonsense.

12. 12

    فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ ۝١٢ayah 12

    In it is a flowing spring.

13. 13

    فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ ۝١٣ayah 13

    In it are raised beds.

14. 14

    وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ ۝١٤ayah 14

    And cups set in place.

15. 15

    وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ ۝١٥ayah 15

    And cushions set in rows.

16. 16

    وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ ۝١٦ayah 16

    And carpets spread around.

17. 17

    أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ ۝١٧ayah 17

    Do they not look at the camels—how they are created?

18. 18

    وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ ۝١٨ayah 18

    And at the sky—how it is raised?

19. 19

    وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ ۝١٩ayah 19

    And at the mountains—how they are installed?

20. 20

    وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ ۝٢٠ayah 20

    And at the earth—how it is spread out?

21. 21

    فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ ۝٢١ayah 21

    So remind. You are only a reminder.

22. 22

    لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ ۝٢٢ayah 22

    You have no control over them.

23. 23

    إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ ۝٢٣ayah 23

    But whoever turns away and disbelieves.

24. 24

    فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ ۝٢٤ayah 24

    Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment.

25. 25

    إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ ۝٢٥ayah 25

    To Us is their return.

26. 26

    ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم ۝٢٦ayah 26

    Then upon Us rests their reckoning.
