Surat al-Lail · The Night

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 1

   وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ ۝١ayah 1

   By the night as it covers.

2. 2

   وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ ۝٢ayah 2

   And the day as it reveals.

3. 3

   وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ ۝٣ayah 3

   And He who created the male and the female.

4. 4

   إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ ۝٤ayah 4

   Your endeavors are indeed diverse.

5. 5

   فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ ۝٥ayah 5

   As for him who gives and is righteous.

6. 6

   وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۝٦ayah 6

   And confirms goodness.

7. 7

   فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ ۝٧ayah 7

   We will ease his way towards ease.

8. 8

   وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسْتَغْنَىٰ ۝٨ayah 8

   But as for him who is stingy and complacent.

9. 9

   وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۝٩ayah 9

   And denies goodness.

10. 10

    فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ ۝١٠ayah 10

    We will ease his way towards difficulty.

11. 11

    وَمَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ ۝١١ayah 11

    And his money will not avail him when he plummets.

12. 12

    إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ ۝١٢ayah 12

    It is upon Us to guide.

13. 13

    وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْـَٔاخِرَةَ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ ۝١٣ayah 13

    And to Us belong the Last and the First.

14. 14

    فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ ۝١٤ayah 14

    I have warned you of a Fierce Blaze.

15. 15p. 596

    لَا يَصْلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلْأَشْقَى ۝١٥ayah 15

    None will burn in it except the very wicked.

16. 16

    ٱلَّذِى كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ۝١٦ayah 16

    He who denies and turns away.

17. 17

    وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَتْقَى ۝١٧ayah 17

    But the devout will avoid it.

18. 18

    ٱلَّذِى يُؤْتِى مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ ۝١٨ayah 18

    He who gives his money to become pure.

19. 19

    وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰٓ ۝١٩ayah 19

    Seeking no favor in return.

20. 20

    إِلَّا ٱبْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ ۝٢٠ayah 20

    Only seeking the acceptance of his Lord, the Most High.

21. 21

    وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ ۝٢١ayah 21

    And he will be satisfied.
